I Don't Know What To Call It
I Don't Know What To Call It
The work happens somewhere deliberately different.
The therapeutic work takes place at The Ridge near Pizarra, Málaga. Psychotherapy, equine work, wilderness work, breathwork and physical challenge move between the therapy space, the horses and the surrounding landscape.
This is not scenery added around therapy. The change of environment is part of what allows ordinary routines, roles and distractions to fall away long enough for something different to happen.
The person matters as much as the programme.
Simon Hitchcock is a British integrative psychotherapist with more than fifteen years of clinical experience. The first task is not deciding which programme to sell you. It is understanding what is actually happening and whether The Ridge is the right setting for it.
Every prospective participant speaks with Simon personally before anything is confirmed. That conversation is where the label becomes an individual picture: what is happening now, what keeps repeating and what appears to sit underneath it.
Different symptoms can come from the same pattern.
Burnout, anxiety, emotional disconnection, low mood and relationship difficulties often overlap. What appears to be one problem can be connected to something deeper around safety, control, pressure, trust or withdrawal.
The Ridge is not built around selecting a label and applying a standard programme to it. Simon works with what keeps repeating and what appears to sit underneath it.
A separate place to stop at the end of the day.
Participants stay in peaceful rural accommodation approximately one kilometre from The Ridge. The therapeutic work happens at The Ridge itself, while the accommodation gives you somewhere separate to sleep, rest and allow the day to settle.
Accommodation, meals and agreed Málaga airport transfers are included across the Ridge formats.
Functioning is not the same as being fine.
Many people who come to The Ridge are still working, making decisions, caring for other people and meeting their responsibilities.
The fact that you can continue functioning does not mean something is not costing you.
Sometimes the useful point to intervene is before the visible breakdown. When the same pattern is becoming harder to manage. When relationships are receiving whatever energy remains. When achievement no longer feels like it used to. When you know something needs to change, even if you cannot yet explain exactly what.
This work is not right for everyone.
The Ridge provides psychotherapist-led intensive therapeutic work. It is not an inpatient psychiatric hospital, emergency mental health service or medically supervised rehabilitation facility.
Not every situation is appropriate for intensive work in this environment.
Every prospective participant speaks privately with Simon before anything is confirmed. The purpose of that conversation is to understand what is happening, whether The Ridge is appropriate and which format, if any, can responsibly hold the work.
You don't need to work out what you need before speaking with Simon.
If something on this page feels familiar, start with that.
