Private Therapy Retreat in Spain

A private, psychotherapist-led therapeutic intensive in Andalusia for one person or one couple, built around the situation rather than a fixed group programme.

One person or one couple · Usually five to seven days · By private conversation only

Private therapeutic work

When the work needs to be built around you.

A private therapy retreat is different from simply attending therapy somewhere quiet. At The Ridge, the intensive is arranged for one person or one couple, with the duration, pace and specialist involvement shaped around what has brought you there.

Simon Hitchcock leads the therapeutic work personally. There is no wider participant group and no standard schedule you are expected to fit. The work can move between depth psychotherapy, equine work, breathwork, physical challenge and the surrounding landscape when those elements genuinely serve the process.

The therapeutic work takes place at The Ridge in the mountains of Andalusia. Participants stay in nearby rural accommodation approximately one kilometre away, providing a separate place to rest and decompress at the end of each day while remaining close to The Ridge throughout the programme.

Why private

Not everyone needs a group. Not every situation should wait for one.

Some people need greater discretion because of their public profile, work or personal circumstances. Others need focused therapeutic work around something too specific to build around a wider group. Sometimes the timing of a scheduled programme simply does not match the point someone has reached.

The defining difference is not luxury or isolation. It is focus. The clinical work, daily rhythm and any specialist involvement are built around one person or one couple rather than balanced across a group of participants.

Private does not automatically mean appropriate. Simon first needs to understand what has brought you here, what has already been tried and whether a concentrated private format is genuinely the right route.

Common questions.

What is a private therapy retreat?
At The Ridge, a private therapy retreat is a residential therapeutic intensive arranged for one person or one couple. Simon Hitchcock leads the psychotherapy personally, with the duration, pace and wider specialist involvement built around the circumstances rather than a fixed group programme.
How is a Private Intensive different from the scheduled Ridge Intensive?
The scheduled programme runs for five days with a maximum of six participants and includes a carefully selected group dynamic. A Private Intensive has no wider participant group. It is arranged around one person or one couple, and the duration, pace and specialist involvement can be adapted to the situation.
Is this one-to-one psychotherapy?
For an individual Private Intensive, the core therapeutic work is one-to-one with Simon Hitchcock. Other practitioners may be involved for behavioural, breathwork, equine, wilderness or physical work when Simon believes those elements will serve the process. A couple's intensive may include both individual and joint work.
How long does a Private Intensive last?
Private Intensives usually last five to seven days. The exact duration is agreed after Simon has understood the circumstances and what the work is likely to require.
Where does the private therapy retreat take place?
The therapeutic work takes place at The Ridge in the mountains of Andalusia near Málaga. Participants stay in nearby rural accommodation approximately one kilometre away. Accommodation, meals and agreed airport transfers are included.
How quickly can a Private Intensive be arranged?
It can often be arranged within a few weeks and in some circumstances sooner. Timing depends on suitability, Simon's availability, any specialist practitioners required and the practical arrangements around the programme.
What does a Private Intensive cost?
There is no single fixed public fee because the duration and level of specialist support vary. Simon confirms the investment privately once the circumstances and proposed format are understood.
Is a Private Intensive suitable for someone in crisis?
No. The Ridge is not an emergency or crisis service and is not suitable for acute psychiatric crisis or active addiction. Emergency, inpatient or medically supervised support should be accessed first where required.
A private route

Some work needs to happen privately.

Every Private Intensive begins with Simon understanding the situation first. The purpose of the initial conversation is to establish whether this format is appropriate, what the work may need and what the next step should be.
